In the efficient operation system of modern excavators, the pilot handle is a key control component, and its operating performance is directly related to the operating efficiency and accuracy. In order to help industry practitioners and related users improve the operating performance of the pilot handle, we can start from the following aspects:

1. Ensure that the performance curves of the pilot valve and the multi-way valve are consistent: the pilot valve is responsible for accurately converting the subtle movements of the operator’s hands into hydraulic signals, and the multi-way valve accurately controls the movements of the excavator’s boom, dipper, bucket and other actuators based on these signals. Only when the control curve of the multi-way valve is completely within the control curve range of the pilot handle can the operator’s control intention be accurately realized. This can make the excavator’s action response smoother and more stable during operation, effectively avoiding the incoordination of actions or even loss of control caused by inconsistent curves, affecting the safety and efficiency of the operation. For example, in complex mining operations, consistent performance curves can make the excavator’s actions connect naturally when digging and loading and unloading materials, greatly improving the accuracy and efficiency of the operation.

2. Reasonably adjust the operating torque of the pilot valve: Customers in different regions have different preferences for the operating torque of the pilot valve. Customers in Europe and the United States prefer pilot valves with large handles and heavy operating forces due to their long-term usage habits and working environment characteristics. Large handles can provide a more stable grip and are not easy to slip during high-intensity and long-term operations; heavier operating forces can allow them to obtain intuitive and clear feedback, and accurately control the excavator’s movement amplitude and strength based on experience and changes in operating force to achieve fine control. Customers in Asia, influenced by their body shape and daily operating habits, prefer pilot valve designs with slim handles and light operating forces. This allows them to avoid fatigue of hand muscles during long-term continuous operation and maintain a good operating state. At the same time, lighter operating forces combined with slim handles can meet the pursuit of operational flexibility, and in urban construction, pipeline laying and other operating scenarios with high requirements for operating accuracy, the excavator can be flexibly and accurately controlled to complete fine movements.

3. Strictly control the leakage of the pilot handle: Industry standards and a large number of practices have shown that strictly controlling the leakage of the pilot handle within 15 ml per minute can ensure stable pressure in the hydraulic system. Stable pressure can avoid pressure loss caused by leakage, improve the working efficiency of the excavator, reduce unit operating time, and increase economic benefits. It can also greatly reduce the additional wear on the internal parts of the equipment caused by unstable pressure, extend the overall service life of the equipment, significantly reduce the equipment maintenance cost and downtime, and create more considerable comprehensive benefits for users.

By implementing the above measures, namely ensuring the consistency of the performance curves of the pilot valve and the multi-way valve, reasonably adjusting the pilot valve operating torque to meet the needs of different customers, and strictly controlling the leakage of the pilot handle, the operating performance of the excavator pilot handle will be improved in all aspects, bringing more efficient, reliable and comfortable working experience to global excavator users, and promoting the steady development of the entire excavator industry towards high performance and intelligence.
