China’s import and export of construction machinery products in the first half of 2023

According to customs data, in the first half of 2023, China's import and export trade volume of construction machinery was 26.311 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year growth of 23.2%. Among them, the import value was 1.319 billion US dollars, down 12.1% year on year; The export value was 24.992 billion US dollars, an increase of 25.8%, and the trade surplus was 23.67 billion US dollars, an increase of 5.31 billion US dollars. Imports in June 2023 were 228 million US dollars, down 7.88% year-on-year; Exports reached 4.372 billion US dollars, up 10.6% year on year. The total value of imports and exports in June was 4.6 billion US dollars, up 9.46% year-on-year. In the first half of this year, the export volume of high-tech construction machinery maintained rapid growth. Among them, the export volume of truck cranes (more than 100 tons) increased by 139.3% year-on-year; Bulldozers (more than 320 horsepower) exports increased by 137.6% year-on-year; Paver exports increased by 127.9% year-on-year; All-ground crane exports increased by 95.7% year-on-year; Asphalt mixing equipment exports increased by 94.7%; Tunnel boring machine exports increased by 85.3% year-on-year; Crawler crane exports increased 65.4% year-on-year; Electric forklift exports increased by 55.5% year-on-year. In terms of major export countries, exports to the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia and Turkey all increased by more than 120%. In addition, exports to Mexico and the Netherlands increased by more than 60%. Exports to Vietnam, Thailand, Germany and Japan fell.

In the first half of this year, the exports of the top 20 major export target countries all exceeded 400 million US dollars, and the total exports of the 20 countries accounted for 69% of the total exports. From January to June 2023, China's construction machinery exports to countries along the "Belt and Road" totaled 11.907 billion US dollars, accounting for 47.6% of all exports, an increase of 46.6%. Exports to BRICS countries reached 5.339 billion US dollars, accounting for 21% of the total exports, up 91.6% year-on-year. Among them, the main source countries of imports are still Germany and Japan, whose cumulative imports in the first half of the year are close to 300 million US dollars, accounting for more than 20%; South Korea followed with $184 million, or 13.9 percent; The value of US imports was US $101 million, down 9.31% year-on-year; Imports from Italy and Sweden were around $70 million.
